arc, in As Elon Musk Promotes Far-Right German Party, EU Politicians Suggest Shutting Off X's Algorithm

Democracies have to start making laws that stop assholes like Musk from interfering in their domestic politics - including and up to imposing heavy fines, service shutdown and personal criminal liability. If a person is not a national and domiciled in that country they should have no right to influence that election through campaign contributions or any other assistance.

endeavor,

Musk and russia. Russia has been a far greater problem and is also behind stupid musk takes.

vane, in Is it possible to design a social media app or service that rather than focuses on farming engagement, it tries to promote quality content?

It was called newspaper back in the day. Printing something was expensive so quality must have been good, that people were willing to read it. And social part was provided by posting letter to the newspaper adress with a hope to be printed.

taladar,

As someone who has lived through some of the time with newspapers and without social media, no, quality was pretty bad back then too.

n2burns, in would you buy a compact laptop that has spacebar touch sensitivity and allows you to adjust input sensitivity, giving it dual purpose (a spacebar and a mouse)+ it has integrated A5 printer in it?

That sounds awful. We already have trackpoint to use a mouse in a compact device.

The printer would add so much bulk that it would no longer be a compact laptop anymore. I know you personally want one (from your recent post), but just carry a separate device or velcro it to the back of the laptop.

PonyOfWar, in Is it possible to design a social media app or service that rather than focuses on farming engagement, it tries to promote quality content?

Sure. But will it be profitable and will enough people want to use it? I think most likely the answer is no.
